Happiness is an inside job, your happiness is your responsibility. Easy to read, but not so easy to create.
Who are You?
Great question, it goes a long way to defining your individual happiness. Most of us spend very little time digging through what drives us, what makes us happy, what motivates us, what do we truly love or hate.
I believe that if you can answer some, if not all, of these questions, than you have a great start to becoming the happy person that you desire.
The past is in the past
We all know that we can’t change the past, but we spend countless hours rehashing what we did or didn’t do. Forget it, it just makes you miserable and you expend far too much energy on it. You are not defined by those moments, whether they were errors or lapses of judgment. Heck, we are all guilty of those moments.
Build on your strengths
This goes hand in hand with knowing who you are. Take time to evaluate yourself, list your strengths. Believe me you have them. Don’t compare yourself to others, just look at yourself. You are a kind, loving, warm human being with innate talents that the world needs to learn to appreciate.
Stop caring about how others perceive you, that is their problem, not yours. Don’t let them define you, learn to please yourself.
Try to be Positive in all things
Relax and accept yourself. I don’t mean that bad things will not happen, but they will not last, and in many cases, are momentary. Take the long view that good things are going to happen for you. I feel that when you arise in the morning, if you expect a good day, that is what you will get. You generally get what you expect; bad begets bad and good begets good.
Never underestimate God’s hand in all your plans. Change is inevitable, try not to focus your energy fighting against the old but in building on the new. This will help to create a happy and creative mood. Try not to let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do. You are a happy, creative, and thoughtful person; you were born this way, now you just need to live this way.
“The chief cause of failure and unhappiness is trading what you want most for what you want now.”
